King County: Free weekend storm debris disposal extended through March 22 at three sites
There will be no charge for flood debris from the December storm brought by residents* to the following stations on Saturdays or Sundays through March 22. Free disposal is only for self-haul customers. Third-party haulers are excluded from the free disposal policy and must pay standard fees.

Community members in need can receive assistance with gas vouchers, food cards and clothing vouchers. Join St. Vincent de Paul at the Renton Library every Thursday at 11am. Except for the third Thursday of the month, which starts at 10am. Space is limited to 10 people. To ensure fairness, a random drawing will be held at the start time to determine participation. HopeFest 2026: Coming Soon!
The annual Hope Festival is a youth-led day of service supporting families in need across the greater Seattle area, including Bellevue, Redmond, Issaquah, and Renton. The event provides more than 1,000 guests with free groceries, clothing, hygiene items, books, and access to services such as haircuts, dental care, vaccinations, and health screenings. Planned and operated entirely by local high school and college students, the festival brings together over 500 volunteers and community partners to offer not only essential supplies, but also a welcoming and uplifting experience for families.

Spring into Adventure: Lake Sammamish Outdoor Festival Saturday, March 28, 2026 Spring into Adventure, the Lake Sammamish Outdoor Festival will be hosted on March 28th at Lake Sammamish State Park in Issaquah. Spring into Adventure: Lake Sammamish Outdoor festival will be a great way to encourage our community to get outside this Spring and to enjoy what Lake Sammamish State Park and everything our surrounding community has to offer. Learn about outdoor wellness opportunities, including movement, mindfulness, nutrition, and gardening.
Issaquah Litter Clean-up Events All are welcome to join this grassroots community litter clean up program. Once a month, volunteers gather with their supplies to remove litter from downtown Issaquah. Meet at the Post Office parking lot on NW Gilman Blvd. Rain or Shine! Coffee and snacks provided! Use your own gloves and trash bags. Team up with a friend; select an area to work; then move out. Dispose of litter in municipal trash bins/dumpsters. Don’t leave it. Use common sense and be safe. June 2025 Update of Virtual Agent Technology: We are pleased to share that early data is showing positive results . We want to keep you informed as the phone technology updates are implemented. As of May 28: The Virtual Agent is answering all calls, authenticating callers and offering answers to frequently asked questions. Additionally, the Virtual Agent is offering some callers who don’t have changes to report the chance to complete food assistance Mid-Certification Reviews. The Virtual Agent started routing 5% of callers on May 28, 35% the week of June 2 and will continue to increase routing as we test functionality. By June 9, we expect that all callers will have access to this option. We intend to implement the final phase the week of June 9: We will shift from our current interactive voice response system to our new IVR system, including full self-service with detailed, case-specific information via the Virtual Agent. Federal Legislation Updates 2025
National Indian Health Board: Medicare and SNAP Provisions Update On July 3, 2025, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, making substantial changes to Medicaid, Medicare, SNAP, and many other social services programs. In a vote of 218-214, Republicans were able to secure enough votes to pass the bill. Although this bill will have significant impacts on public safety nets, including critical healthcare programs, it includes several key provisions that will protect and exempt American Indians and Alaska Natives from the most harmful cuts to Medicaid and SNAP. A list of key provisions that will impact Tribes can be found at the link above.
