Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Nourishing Networks group?
A Nourishing Networks group convenes meetings, bringing together passionate volunteers, city employees, school district staff, social service agencies, civic groups, faith groups, in a local community to find and solve basic human needs insecurities people are facing within their local community. These meetings usually happen monthly through Zoom , etc. and in person. These diverse groups all discuss what the problems are in their local community, what resources they have available and what resources are needed. They have asks and offers. From there, they take action and they get stuff done. They coordinate what needs to be happen and how each group and individual can work together to implement necessary projects and other solutions to solve the identified problems. The network model supports passionate and diverse community members equitably, in grass roots, self-organized, self-sustainable ways. They create their own agendas around the problems they want to address. They connect new and existing local agencies, projects, and resources to a larger network of people and organizations, in ways never possible before.
Does Nourishing Networks distribute food to people experiencing food insecurity?
Not directly, no, Nourishing Networks isn’t a direct service organization, rather, Nourishing Networks brings together the various volunteers and organizations in the community who can provide food to the people that need it quickly. A Nourishing Networks group reaches out to their own group and connections and other groups in the networks, they share their connections and where resources might be located. From there, people move into action to help fill the need where it was found. They activate volunteers and agencies to help out wherever it’s needed, when it’s needed.
Is Nourishing Networks affiliated with any political or religious organizations?
No, Nourishing Networks does not have any political, governmental, or religious affiliation.
