Bike Drive May 3, 2025 Sammamish Volunteers & Donations Needed

Bike Works relies on bike donations to run a social enterprise shop, youth & adult programs, and community bike giveaways. Bikeworks accepts any and all donations of bikes, parts, and accessories, regardless of value or condition. We process between 6,000 – 8,000 bike donations every year – that’s about 250,000 pounds diverted from the waste stream in the form of clean, reliable transportation!

King County is in the process of developing its first ever Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP), which is a plan that identifies and prioritizes ways to reduce our county’s risk of experiencing a destructive wildfire – such as what recently occurred in Los Angeles County.  Your perspective and input on wildfire risk reduction is a valuable component of the CWPP planning process. Please join partners from across King County at one of our upcoming Wildfire Mitigation Workshops. The workshops are the same event held in different locations across King County, and you are welcome to join whichever date/location is most convenient for you. If you have any questions about the workshops, please contact King County’s Community Wildfire Protection Planner, Alli Ferreri (aferreri@kingcounty.gov). American Cancer Society Relaunches Volunteer Driver Program

After pausing the Road To Recovery program due to public health concerns during the pandemic, The American Cancer Society (ACS) is relaunching their volunteer driver program. Patients can access the program either through the mobile-friendly website or an app that will allow them to submit ride requests and see real time notifications. Patients who lack access to technology or who prefer to connect via phone can still call 1-800-227-2345 to schedule rides to treatment. ACS is seeking volunteer drivers to support this program.  This volunteer flyer provides more information about how to get involved. If you need assistance or know someone who does, this program flyer has more details.
