Opportunities for Supporting Shelters on the Eastside
KCRHA: Support 2026 Point-in-Time Count
As we plan for the 2026 Point-in-Time (PIT) Count, there will be ways for service providers and members of our community to get involved. The 2026 PIT Count will take place Monday – Friday between January 26 and February 6, 2026, weather permitting.
Host or Nominate a Hub Site: The methodology we use for the PIT Count, known as Respondent Driven Sampling (RDS), requires safe and accessible physical locations where individuals and families who are experiencing unsheltered homelessness can complete a survey. We are seeking locations that meet the requirements to serve as hub sites, mobile van locations, and pilot sites. If you know a location that would be a suitable PIT 2026 host, or if your agency or organization would like to be considered as a site, please fill out the hub site nomination form. You can nominate your agency or organization's location, as well as an external partner's location if you think they meet the qualifications. You can submit multiple nominations by submitting a new form for each one.
Attend the 2024 PIT Comprehensive Report Deep Dive Webinar On Friday, September 5, 2025, KCRHA is hosting a lunchtime webinar from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm to review the findings from the 2024 PIT Count Comprehensive Report. Attendees will dive deep into the specifics of 2024 PIT Count findings, and have an opportunity to make recommendations for improving data collection for the upcoming 2026 PIT Count. You must register to attend.

The Sophia Way We are committed to ending homelessness for women in King County
Join Us in June for a Special Donation Drive in honor of Juneteenth! Did you know that hair care products for Black and textured hair are often hard to find? This issue is especially significant for the Black community experiencing homelessness in King County. Although only 6% of King County’s population identifies as Black, 19% of those experiencing homelessness identified as such. At The Sophia Way, a striking 38% of women identify as Black, highlighting a significant disparity. This Juneteenth, The Sophia Way is partnering with Friends of Youth, Mary’s Place, Porchlight , YouthCare, and Boon Boona Coffee for a special donation drive. We are collecting Black hair care products to ensure everyone has access to the products they need.
Volunteers are welcome into The Sophia Way’s shelters – If you are interested in volunteering, please let us know.
We are serving meals at two shelters – Helen’s Place and Sophia’s Place – and depend on the community to provide the women nourishing meals. Information and SignUp here
Furniture: When women move into housing, they often do not have a lot of belongings and will need help furnishing their new home. We rely on two community partners, Northwest Furniture Bank and St. Vincent de Paul, to help with these items. Please consider donating your furniture to these great organizations.
As the populations of King and Snohomish Counties have increased over the past few decades, so too have the numbers of young people grappling with issues such as homelessness, family violence and substance abuse.
We're excited to share that our Mamma's Hands Wishlist is constantly growing and updated weekly! Our residents, including mothers and their babies, regularly add personal wishlist items that bring them joy and a sense of normalcy. These items might be considered "luxuries" to some, but to our residents, they are invaluable. Please consider purchasing an item from our wishlist and help make a difference in their lives. Our families THANK YOU! Click here

For families experiencing homelessness, transitional and long-term housing as well as emergency family shelter may be available through Hopelink.
The Host Homes King County program matches young people ages 12-24 with hosts in the community who can provide the space and opportunity they need to build independent living skills, gain stability, and focus on goal attainment. This program provides much-needed stability for young people who are "almost there", many are already working and close to obtaining housing, and just need a boost. Host families are volunteers from the community who willingly offer a room in their home that provides safe, short-term, and supportive housing to young people who are at imminent risk of becoming homeless. This is a simple and direct way to make an impact on King County's homelessness crisis. Over 1,500 youth and young adults between the ages of 12-25 are homeless or unstably housed within King County. Shelter beds and community resources are limited, leaving the vast majority of young people without access to food or safe housing. Through the Host Homes King County Program you have the opportunity to be a champion for some of these homeless young adults. Host Home FAQ
