People who have experienced homelessness at any point in their lives can apply to receive up to $25,000 to support a professional or creative endeavor thanks to the National Alliances to End Homelessness’s new Susan G. Baker and Elizabeth Boyle Innovation Fund. Applications for the grant program are due by December 30, 2024, with virtual presentations and interviews scheduled for January 2025. Friends of Youth: Job Club @ Willows Youth Services Center in Kirkland
Every Tuesday from 3:30 to 4:30pm, Leslie Nelson, Friends of Youth’s Employment Case Manager, leads the Job Club in the library at Willows Youth Services Center. Leslie provides personalized guidance on essential skills like resume building, interview preparation, and workplace success strategies. Occasionally, she invites special guests to share insights about their careers, giving clients a firsthand look at various job opportunities. Leslie's approach is all about meeting clients where they are. Whether someone needs help finding interview attire or is seeking a referral through our partnerships with local businesses, she tailors her support to each individual's unique needs. Job Club is a supportive space and a steppingstone where clients can build confidence and gain the tools they need to succeed in the workforce. Interested in being a guest speaker? The Hopelink Employment Program
provides one-on-one job coaching and meets with participants weekly. We can help with resumes, cover letters, job search strategies, career assessments and much more. Together, we will help with their employment goals. If your clients do not have a resume and/or would like to enroll in our job coaching program, please e-mail HEP@hopelink.org or call 425-250-3030 to see if they qualify for Hopelink’s Employment Program.
Worksource Connection Sites; Hopelink has formed an exciting partnership with WorkSource Washington to help support those seeking employment. WorkSource is a network of organizations focused on helping job seekers find rewarding employment, education, and training opportunities. WorkSource is the state’s one-stop workforce development system that supports those looking to excel and grow as working professionals. The WorkSource Connection Sites are walk-in centers at our Redmond and Sno-Valley locations during Market Hours. There are no eligibility requirements, and the program is free of charge. Hopelink GED Program and English For Work Program
English for Work Program: English for Work Fall Quarter Details For Intermediate and Advanced Level Students (see our Guide for Identifying English Level) Orientation starts September 17 | Class: September 30-December 13 There are five class options for fall quarter. Each class is two days per week online via Zoom. English for Work is a free, quarter-long program for immigrants and refugees to improve their English language skills and prepare for employment in the United States. Something new and exciting is that, thanks to a partnership with Seattle Public Library (SPL), students can choose to attend a weekly in-person class at the Rainier Beach Branch of SPL in addition to attending class on Zoom. We will continue to offer these supplemental, in-person classes at Hopelink’s Shoreline and Redmond centers as well.
GED/High School+ This program is free, and offers two pathways to earn a high school credential: GED and High School+ (HS+). GED students prepare for the science, social studies, math, and language arts GED tests. HS+ students complete assignments to earn high school credits. Students attend classes and have free access to one-on-one tutoring, learning materials, and college/career advising. Hopelink provides vouchers for GED practice tests and scholarships to pay for the official GED tests. We also have computers available for students to borrow and can provide bus tickets to help with transportation costs. You can also visit our webpage for more information. Worksource Connection: As a Worksource Connection site in King County, ReWA offers online access to WorkSource services. These services include, for example, online job search, job seeker resources, unemployment services, and tutorials on topics like resume writing and interviewing.
TRAC Associates JOB HELP FOR PEOPLE IMPACTED BY THE CRIMINAL LEGAL SYSTEM
TRAC Associates provides funding for training, help with job searches and résumé writing, work-related supplies, peer and group counseling, expungement services, and transportation. Services are available to King County residents who’ve been recently released, recently charged, or pre-released from the criminal legal system.
