From Eastside For All: As immigration enforcement activity has increased on the Eastside, we've heard growing concern from residents who want to know how they can respond safely and effectively if they witness an ICE operation.
To help answer those questions, East King RISE developed a Constitutional Observer Training in partnership with Seattle Indivisible and West Seattle Indivisible, with support from WAISN and ACLU-WA.
This free, one-hour training prepares community members to safely and effectively respond if they encounter immigration enforcement activity. Participants learn how to document what they observe, understand the role and limitations of Constitutional Observers, and help ensure that constitutional rights are respected.
We would be grateful if you would share this training with your networks. The more people who are prepared, the stronger our community response will be when neighbors need support.
· In person Constitutional Observer Training Wed, June 24 @ 7pm in Bellevue. https://www.mobilize.us/indivisibleeastside/event/970672/
· Virtual Constitutional Observer Training Mon, June 29 @ 7pm https://www.mobilize.us/indivisibleeastside/event/970680/
P.S. East King RISE is happy to present this training either in person or via Zoom to community groups, organizations and congregations. Please reach out to eastkingrapidresponse@gmail.com for more info and to schedule.

Commerce awards technical assistance and preconstruction funding for multifamily affordable housing developers
$2.87 million will be provided to organizations serving Washington communities
The Washington State Department of Commerce is making 20 awards totaling $2,873,499 from the state Housing Trust Fund that will empower developers to access technical assistance and cover preconstruction costs for future affordable housing developments. Developers that are being awarded these funds work to support historically underserved communities in Washington, including:
Communities marginalized by racism or other forms of discrimination
Rural communities
Communities that have not historically accessed capital funding for affordable housing
The awards will aid organizations in preparing to successfully compete for capital funding from sources such as cities, counties, traditional bank loans, and low-income housing tax credits.
