JUNE 2026 News

June Issaquah Sammamish Interfaith Coalition news

Elizabeth, the ISIC coordinator and editor of this newsletter, will be working in a pastoral care position and doing some preaching this summer as well, so the newsletters may be less frequent.  ISIC is not yet a 501-c-3 and has no bank account.  We could use some office help, someone to update and maintain our website which is years out of date, and funds for a Zoom account to re-enable hybrid meetings.  Can you help?

Topics: This newsletter begins with Social Justice and ends with a few bits specific to Issaquah, Pierce County and to Seattle.  In between the topics are Immigration, Housing and homelessness, Disabilities, Transportation, Health, Resources (including a section for parents, children & youth), Community Asks and Opportunities, For Service Providers, and Articles.

Call With Us: Protect LGBTQ+ Families and Defend True Religious Freedom on Monday, June 1 at 9:30 AM.

In partnership with Keshet, this “Call With Us!” session will focus on S.3279, the John Lewis Every Child Deserves a Family Act, and what’s at stake for religious freedom, civil rights, and church/state separation. We’ll explore how the bill would help protect LGBTQ+ families from discrimination in federally funded child welfare services, improve outcomes for LGBTQ+ youth, and challenge policies that use “religious liberty” as a license to discriminate.

Participants will learn what’s at stake for children and families — and take action by calling their members of Congress during the program. https://www.circle.org/events/protect-lgbtq-religious-freedom?blm_aid=1829251891
