It’s amazing to me that somehow I’m sailing into the end of the sixth week of the quarter; thank goodness because I’m crazy and am taking 20 credits in addition to this internship! However, more than that I’ve had the opportunity to meet some amazing people who are doing amazing work! I’ve had the honor to visit, participate and meet with individuals participating in the Issaquah, Northshore and Redmond Nourishing Networks; all of which are doing amazing things for their communities!
I thought I would share my favorite things that each of these networks is doing within their community!
Issaquah is working on designing and making a brochure that will provide those in need with a list of resources available in their community. I love this idea, because they are not only making sure people are aware of what’s available to them, but also promoting other services within their network. Redmond worked closely with the Lake Washington School District and also designed a similar document as Issaquah sharing the resources available to homeless families. This document will be live and available on the district website soon! Read more about the Redmond Nourishing Network HERE.
Northshore has a strong desire to help feed their community and students within their schools. They are actively working on or already doing a number of programs including Totes to Go, starting a community kitchen and working with stores to receive blemished and pulled food from grocery stores to pass out to their families. I’m looking forward to visiting with Bellevue and Kirkland networks in the coming weeks!
